I enjoy Go, Aikido, and developing great software.

About Me

I was born in New Jersey and moved to California in 1990. I currently live with my wife, Shanna, in Union City California. Our son, Brian, went to Berkeley and currently works at a gaming startup.

Developing Software

I knew from a young age that I wanted to develop software for a living. In addition to working as a software engineer, I create software projects for fun.

My resume has more information about my education, career, and data visualization patents.

Playing Go

I enjoy playing Go so much that I created a Go meet-up in Union City. I have been playing since about 1997, but, sadly, am only about 5 kyu. I have learned a lot from the game.

Practicing Aikido

When I was young I practiced karate, but knew about aikido from Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere which I saw at the library.

In college, at RPI, I practiced at the Capital District Aikikai with Sensei Irvin Faust. When I moved to California, I practiced primarily at Aiki Zen Shin dojo in Fremont.

I've developed a grammar for Aikido in an effort to better understand its underlying principles.

Volunteering at Schools

From the time when my son was in 3rd grade, I spent a lot of time volunteering at his schools. Every year, I organized after school clubs for math and computer science, and also served on school site councils. I continued to be an adviser and mentor for the students of the James Logan Computer Science Club - for a few years after Brian graduated in 2017.
